This is my first time blogging. This will hopefully be a crafty blog with a little bit of myself thrown in as well. I should introduce myself. My name is Pauline and I have been crafting since I was a little girl. My mother taught all of us how to knit - including my brothers. My father is also able to knit and read patterns so even he was a great source of help. My mother also taught knitting to children at the small catholic school I attended and was hardly ever seen without her knitting needles - embarrassing as it was, even in the picture theatre when we were young.
I used to start many knitting projects - mostly jumpers and knit one side while my mother finished the rest for me. When I was in my early twenties I started knitting baby clothes and got hooked. They were so quick and easy - nothing like the laborious task of knitting a whole adult size jumper. After a while I did actually move on to knitting for myself, but the day came when I realised that it's just not that cold in Auckland for wearing thick aran jumpers. So after offloading my jumpers to others in colder places around the country I took to knitting scarves in as many different types of wool I could - feathers, fluff, mohair, chenillle - and so many different colours that I think I must have one for every occassion. I came to the point where I just couldn't cope with any more scarves, but still needed to do something with my hands in the evenings.
Will continue with my story soon.
